Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
RUMATECHNOLOGIES (PTY) LTD ("we", "us", "our") operates the TALK2.NOW platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal information is handled securely and responsibly in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data when you use the TALK2.NOW website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Platform").
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the personal information necessary to provide and operate the Platform. This includes:
- Account Details: When you register, we collect your email address, display name, and an optional profile avatar.
- Personality Application Data: If you apply to become a personality, we collect your legal name, headline, pitch, category, a mandatory profile photo, an optional pitch video, social media handles, and self-reported follower counts.
- Booking & Transaction Records: When you purchase a session or ticket, we record the transaction amount, currency, status, gateway reference, your name, and your email address. We do not capture, process, or store full credit card numbers. All payments are handled directly by our payment gateway.
- Session Metadata: We record details about events and calls, including scheduled times, actual start and end times, durations, and participant join/leave timestamps.
- Platform Activity: We persist chat messages sent during TALK2 LIVE group events, the reviews and ratings you submit, the personalities you follow, and your email notification preferences.
- Support Correspondence: Inbound emails sent to our support addresses are stored securely so we can resolve your queries and maintain an audit trail.
- Technical & Log Data: We automatically collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and operating system when you interact with the Platform.
Guest Checkout
You may purchase tickets or sessions without creating an account by providing just a name and email address. If you later sign in or create an account using that same email address, your previous guest purchases will automatically link to your new account.
3. How We Use Your Information
Under POPIA, we process your personal information based on the following justifications:
- Performing a Contract: To deliver the sessions you book, facilitate payment processing, create TALK2 LIVE tickets, and enable real-time video connections.
- Legitimate Interests: To maintain Platform security, prevent fraud, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide customer support.
- Legal Obligations: To maintain required tax, accounting, and corporate records under South African law.
- Consent: To send you marketing communications or email alerts when personalities you follow schedule new events (which you can opt out of at any time).
6. Communications & Follows
If you choose to "follow" a personality on the Platform, you may receive automated email alerts when they schedule a new TALK2 LIVE or TALK2 MEET event.
Every alert email contains a working, one-click unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing will stop the email alerts but will keep you following the personality's profile. You can also manage these email notification preferences directly within the "My TALK2" section of the application.
Please note that the number of followers a personality has is strictly private and is never published or shared publicly on the Platform.
7. Data Retention & Security
Retention: We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Payment, ledger, and transactional records are retained for as long as required by South African tax and company law (generally five years). Support correspondence is kept as a record of our interaction. Deleting your account will remove your active profile, but it does not erase financial records we are legally obligated to retain.
Security: We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. Passwords are cryptographically hashed, payment credentials are never held on our servers, and access to administrative data is strictly restricted. However, no internet-based system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights Under POPIA
As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request the correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
- Request the deletion or destruction of your personal information (subject to our legal retention obligations).
- Object to the processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@talk2.now. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.
If you are unsatisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa). You can contact them at: enquiries@inforegulator.org.za or complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.
9. Children
The TALK2.NOW platform is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of the document. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
For information regarding the rules and conditions governing your use of the Platform, please review our Terms of Service.
